1960s Novel Love - Shirley Flight Air Hostess

Ever heard of Shirley Fight?
No?

"Shirley looked up into the twinkling eyes of Captain Prentiss,
and as she did so she knew there could be no fears of an adverse flight report"

Gold!
1960's gold!
Isn't she gorgeous?

It just so happens that my neighbours are air stewards so I couldn't pass this one up.
The future of this book had become apparent...

I get a kick out of making personalised gifts like this-
that connect through the text.
The number of this Hybrid references the number of their house too.

The wrapping also uses "Shirley Flight"

There are further plans for this book....

Do you have any old books that you dig?

Christmas Cards - Free Vintage Download

My Christmas Card Recipe
  1. Source some traditional Christmas sheet music
  2. Add one large (but wise looking) moose head.
  3. Decorate with shiny red retro baubles.
  4. Serve with some French language references

The great thing about this card recipe is that it is original and economical.
My Christmoose design is a 6x4,
perfect for development at the local photo-lab
Then I simply glued the photos onto some card stock.
The cards came out at a grand total of 30 cents each, including the envelope...
that warms the cockles of my heart!

If you would like to spread the Christmoose cheer you are invited to use my original image for your cards (personal use only of course) . I would appreciate it if you follow Elle and Lou in return for using my design please.

Many thanks to The Graphics Fairy whose daily vintage images are an inspiring starting place.

Merry Christmas!

C & K : Free Teacher Gift / Printable

Today we are marking a milestone in our family.
For today is my "baby's"  last day in childcare/preschool at  C & K*.

We have ben a part of this kindergarten community for 7 years!
It is fair to say that when we first took Missy J there at 12 months we didn't foresee how important the people at C &K would be in our lives and the impact that they would have on our family.

Some teachers have come and gone but there are a couple that have been with us for the whole 7 years. Miss Erin and Miss Cheryl are too of the most amazing teachers that any parent could wish for and we thank them deeply for their commitment, care, professionalism, sense of fun and wonder.

As a parting gift to the centre I have made an eye-chart.
I think the sentiment is important and I hope the children use it as part of their roll play fun.
It also gives the little ones another opportunity to  be recognising letters and shapes.
( In the final version I added our names underneath the line
and mounted it in an A4 document frame)

If you are a C & K parent and would like a free printable as a gift for your centre please go ahead and use this jpeg ( I would love it if you became a follower too if you wish)

If you would like me to email you a higher quality version just get in touch by leaving a comment or leaving a message through blogger or on Facebook.

* In Australia, C&K are a well known not-for-profit community organisation that specialise in childcare and pre-schooling.
